More Favourite Basils
There are quite a few varieties of basil with distinctly unique flavours. Now I'm not too big a fan of these types. Simply because I use basil for the flavour of - well basil, and not something else. If I want an anise flavour its much easier, and effective to add anise to my dish.
Be that as it may, there are 3 types of flavoured basil which I can recommend. Here they are, again in order of importance:
Thai Sweet Basil - Ocimum basilicum 'Thai' - has a fascinating licorice flavour, somewhat like tarragon but more pronounced. If you are into Thai cooking and stir fries you'll definitely like this basil.
Cinnamon Basil - Ocimum basilicum 'Cinnamon' - similar to Thai Sweet Basil but with a distinctive cinnamon-like aroma. It works well with savoury meat dishes.
Lemon Basil - Ocimum citriodorum - has a distinctive lemon aroma which works quit well when you want a lemony aroma without the flavour and acidity of a real lemon.
See My Favourite Basil Varieties for more recommended basil varieties.

I can't live without basil. I have pots all over my sunny windowsill.
Never heard of Thai Sweet Basil before though.

I am looking for the "Zulu Basil" as this is apparently a very good Mozzie fighter. Is there anyone that can let me have some seeds please
Thanks
John
